Brandon Sanderson grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. He lives in Utah with his wife and children and teaches creative writing at Brigham Young University. He is the author of such bestsellers as the Mistborn(R) trilogy and its sequels, The Alloy of LawShadows of Self, and The Bands of Mourning; the Stormlight Archive novels The Way of KingsWords of Radiance, and Oathbringer; and other novels, including The Rithmatist and Steelheart. In 2013, he won a Hugo Award for Best Novella for The Emperor's Soul, set in the world of his acclaimed first novel, Elantris. Additionally, he was chosen to complete Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time(R) sequence.

Each volume is bound in dark blue bonded leather with a hubbed spine and foil stamping in two colors (gold and blue) on front, back, and spine. The interior pages are acid-neutral, Smyth-sewn into the binding instead of only glued, and are printed in two colors: black and blue. It comes in two volumes—the first of which is signed.

The page ends are gilded, each volume has a satin-ribbon bookmark, and the full-color endpapers present art by Michael WhelanHoward Lyon, and Isaac Stewart

Each volume begins with an 8-page gallery of full-color artwork, including cover illustrations from around the world, commissioned pieces, and top-notch fan art.

Spread across the two volumes are seven new full-color interior pieces by Miranda MeeksDan dos SantosMicah EpsteinAudrey HotteBryan Mark Taylor, and Steve Argyle.
